Just outside of Orlando, Winter Park is a charming getaway for any day trip.  The city offers a blend of outdoor activities and indoor experiences (if you’d like a break from the summer sun), and one thing is for sure: there’s something in Winter Park for everyone.

The local Winter Park Farmers Market starts bright and early, from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. every Saturday. Explore local vendors, produce, and baked goods that you can bring back to your resort and enjoy as a souvenir of your fun day trip to Winter Park!

Park Avenue is frequently referred to as “Little Europe,” with popular shops and dining experiences. Your 30-minute drive to Winter Park might feel like you’ve been transported somewhere else entirely!

Florida’s springs are kind of like the original lazy river – and Kelly Park/Rock Springs is one of the best family-friendly things to do in Florida.

In between floating along the Rock Springs, you can enjoy a nature walk through the Kelly Loop Trail. Just under 3 miles, this shaded and tranquil trail is sure to help you wind down and reconnect with nature.

A trip to Kelly Park will require some planning, like bringing your own innertube and some supplies for the day. Before you venture over, call the Kelly Park Information Line to ensure the park has capacity: 407-254-1906

Even though it’s more than an hour drive, Bok Tower Gardens is worth adding to this list! The historic bell tower and surrounding preserve is located in the city of Lake Wales, about 90 minutes from Vista Cay.

The gardens overlook miles of Florida orange groves, and even on the busiest days there are places to sit in a moment of tranquility.

You can learn about the historic singing tower and enjoy breathtaking views on the highest point of Florida. In between walking nature trails and touring the tower, grab a bite at the Blue Palmetto Café or pack your own lunch for a scenic picnic! If you’re vacationing with littles, venture over to Hammock Hollow where the kids can explore and discover a whole new world.
