Florida Winters—an oxymoron for some—are among the most pleasant you can imagine in the United States. The weather patterns of Central Florida also make it a perfect place to visit during the months of December, January and February. This is one of the reasons so many people flock to Orlando during the winter since they have a chance to enjoy life without snow and without the need to keep the heat on at all times inside their home.

While during the day you may find yourself basking in the sun under 80-degree weather, Orlando’s wintry evenings can see the temperatures going down to a chilly 50-degrees. It is then that you may realize that it would have been nice to pack a jacket or a sweater to avoid shivering after the sun goes down. Unless you want to shell out $20, $30 or even $50 for a souvenir piece of garment to keep you warm, always pack a light sweater and a jacket to allow for some level of layering. If you have children, a warm hat may also make sense to bring—especially if planning to walk outside after hours.

Regardless of how cool the weather may get, do know that Florida winters don’t really last long. In fact, we often find ourselves wearing a jacket in the morning hours, only to be ready to wear shorts and sandals by the early afternoon. While winter is not known for copious rain, the change in weather patterns may bring an occasional shower or light thunderstorm. Therefore, bringing a jacket that can double as a raincoat can be useful as well. Planning ahead can help you remain dry and warm, so you can continue to enjoy your vacation or business trip without catching a cold.

And worry not, Vista Cay Resort by Millenium is always a warm place you can come back to after a cool day at the parks. We are the perfect “Winter Getaway” destination where you can enjoy Florida and its breezy winter evenings while letting the sun kiss your face during the day.
